Nancy Perreault, formerly known as Nancy Black, has embraced a new year with a new outlook. A return to her surname has not only been spurred by change and growth, but a creative reminder of her family's Acadian roots that have greatly inspired her. The fleur-de-lis, a French symbol representing the union of mind, body and soul, has been of great influence to Nancy as it represents both her family's heritage as well as what her designs represents.

Born and raised in Vancouver, Nancy started sewing at 6 years old with both her mother and auntie. At 9 years old, after watching a documentary on the Punk Rock scene, she instantly became enamored with music and fashion and how the marriage of these two enabled people to express themselves. After high school graduation, while working various jobs, Nancy experimented with making clothes for herself. Her designs attracted attention and before she knew it, she was designing for others. She put two and two together and saw her love of fashion and music could be an actual business, which she was driven to establish.

After graduating from Vancouver's Helen Lefaux School of Fashion Design in 1994, Nancy got her first start with her Obsidian clothing line in1997. From Obsidian, she developed into Nancy Black, where she specialized in avant garde, fashion forward designs. While Nancy still loves the music/fashion connection, the avant garde and "wearable art," life changes guided her towards new layers of creativity. Born into the world in 2010 was Nancy Perreault; designs that fuse all of the above but with a lighter, brighter twist while still remaining inspired by a fusion of classic cuts blended with modern glamor. It is that fusion that sets Nancy Perreault out from the rest.
